Nýja málverkið byrjar um 1980 á Íslandi. The new wave painting beginning in Iceland around 1980.

Ég hef verið að taka til í geymslunum hjá mér, þá kemur ýmislegt í ljós. Það sem þar er er oft kallað Nýja málverkið, það er deilt um hvort eitthvað var nýtt í þessu málverki, hitt var þó staðreynd að margir töldu málverkið dautt sem listform, það út af fyrir sig var nægjanleg ástæða til að taka upp penslana að loknu námi í Nýlistadeild MHÍ, reyndar var ég að fikta soldið við málverk meðfram nýmiðlunum, sem reyndar höfðu verið notaðir í myndlist alla 20 öldina.

I have been cleaning my my storage, at that time things become clearer, when you see what there is. This is often called the new wave painting, it is debated whether there was something new in this painting, how ever it was in fact many that believed the painting dead as an art form, that by itself was sufficient reason to take up brushes and paint. When completion of the art school where I study Conceptual art, actually I was kinda tampering with the painting along the new media, which was called new but actually had been used in art all 20 century.

Á þessum tíma fyrir 1980 vissi maður ekki hvað væri að gerast, það var bara einhver óljós tilfinning eða þrá. Um leið og nýja málverkið er orðið einskonar fyrirbrygði fer það að hafa áhrif á hvað fólk gerir í myndlistinni.Ég skrifa meira um þetta fljótlega.

At this time in 1980 did not know what was happening, it was just a vague feeling or desire. As soon as the new painting has become a kind fenomen it does have an impact on what the artist is doing. Ég write more about this soon.

Cooking food has been my hobby for many years. I have most cooked for family and friends, until recently a woman who works in the gallery where I sell my paintings encouraged me to have group of tourists to eat Icelandic Sunday food (Slow cooked lamb). They have been completely happy with my food , ...

Starter:
Smoked trout, home baked leavened bread, onion, spice and sour cream. Smoked trout is very traditional in Iceland for festivals or ceremonies.

Slow cooked lamb with vegetables, sweet potatoes,potatoes,carrots, onions and aubergine. The meat tastes just like my mother did to cook it, but she had potatoes peas and red cabbage.

Vanillaskyr, blueberries and Kino with some cream. Skyr is very Icelandic with Blue berries, Kino is from South America I add some sugar and cinnamon,it will give you an idea of the natural curiosity of one Icelander.

Þingvellir- Thingvellir.

Þingvellir eru einn helgasti staður Íslands. Listamenn hafa löngum komið þangað til að mála landslagið. Ég er svo sem ekki þessi týpiski landslags málari, en ég heillast af Þingvöllum og finnst gott að koma þangað. Ég hef á síðustu árum gert svolítið að stafrænum ljósmyndaverkum og Þingvellir koma auðvitað við sögu. Ísumar fannst mér magnað að labba inn í gjá og fannst um stund að ég væri inní jörðinni og horfi út í frelsið.


Thingvellir is one of the holiest sites of Iceland. Artists have often been there to paint the scape of the land. I'm not that typical landscape painter, but I enamored of Thingvellir and the like coming there. I have in recent years done a bit of digital photographic works and Thingvellir coming one of my motifs. It  was amazing to walk into a gap of the land and felt for a moment that I was into the ground and look to world of freedom.

Margt býr þoku.
Ferða þrá. Stundum er maður ekki sáttur við það hvernig málverkin eru. Þá málar maður nýtt málverk á strigan.

Annað málverkið hér fyrir neðan er frá því um 1999 síðustu öld, ég var ekki sáttur við litin, en fannst mótífið mjög fínt. Ég tók myndina framm núna um áramótin og málaði hana aftur uppá nýtt.

Svona breytist maður sem listamaður.

Sometimes you are not satisfied with the way the paintings are. Then paint one new painting on canvas.
One of paintings here below the  is from about 1999 last century, I was not satisfied with the color, but it was a very fine motif. I took the images presented now the turn and painted it again freshly.
This show how one can develop as an artist.

Sjómanna dagur. / Fishermens day.

Faðir minn var skipstjóri á togara og mikið var talað um veiðar og sjómensku í minni æsku. Þessvegna hef ég töluvert málað sjó báta og fiska. Þessi myndefni hafa líka aðrar merkingar t.d. Búum við á fjarlægri eyju sem skapar okkur önnur örlög en ef við værum ekki svona eiangruð þó margt hafi breist við tilkomu netsis. Fiskur getur táknað Krist og hefur hann einnig aðrar trúarlegar vísanir hafið getur leitt okkur í vegvillur s.br. Odiseifur. Táknin hjá mér eru hvorutveggja persónuleg og úr táknfræðunum.

My father was the captain on trawler and it was much talked about fishing and fishermen at my home in my childhood. Therefore, I paint boats,sea and fish. These subjects also have other meanings, example We live on a remote island that gives us another fate, but if we were not so isolated from other contyes, though the Internet make the world smaller. The signs of my art are both  personal and traditional symbols.
