Fich as schnitzel.
Fried fish in a rasp is a kind of "Wienerschnitzel," of Iceland, This is a kind of variation Icelandic fried fish. I first bake rutabaga and potatoes in the oven, then the Haddock is loaded on the top withn lot of olive oil and garlic, Provence spice, lemon pepper and salt over it is sprinkled rasp some butter and bake for a few minutes.

I was born in Reykjavik: May 12, 1954. Grow up Kópavogur close to Reykavik, which was mostly built by refugees, who were not allocated land in Reykjavík for political reasons. Good time for children to play in half builded houses, or go to a small shelter and listen to the communist.
When I was 12 y.o. I decided to become a painter and, as my father resisted, it would not turn back.
After I have learnd Carpentry to make my father happy, I went to The school of Arts and Crafts, and ended up learning experimental art and new art media, I could take all the risks, I had lernd very practical profession to be able to make a living. I did not get started with creating so called “New media”, but began do painting with the good old oil colours. I was a part of movement in the eighties called “New Painting”. I then studied in Amsterdam for a year, mostly of graphic printing, but that time was a great gift for me, since I started working as a professional and have done so mostly since 1983.
I’ve been very lucky! I was one of the first to do, so called “New Panting” in Iceland, this promotion drew attention and I started selling my art works and could make a living in a decent life, all the time until the lucky famous “collapse” of the banks in Ieland, but at that time people mostly have to use their money in pay-as-you-go debt created by our economic system in Iceland, probably one of the worst in the world.
After that crash, I have been doing some extra work: teaching, city walk with tourist and so on, I have alsow been having pepole visiting my studio with some home-made food. But also received a grants.gov support forbig exhibition in Art museum: Kjarvalsadir in 2011. This period has been nice, always good to get new challenges especially if one manages to take advantage of them. I recently had an exhibition of Mokka Kaffi in Reykjavik hat was successful.
I have been doing Sahajayoga for many years and have volunteered to teach and introduce.

Identity of Icelanders in terms of food is most propably the lamb meat, the sheep has endured in the country for centuries. One version of lamb meat is smoked as we put on flatbread.
With this we drink, malt extact drink and orange fizzy soft drink mix together, specaly at Christmas and give tourists if they want something Icelandic.
As well we deal with painting this half-wild house animal.

Gleðilegt sumar.
Samkvæmt gamla Íslenska tímatalinu er sumardagurin fyrsti í dag, það eru ekki allir samála um að sumarið sé raunverulega komið, enda er veðrið ekki alltaf vísbending um að svo sé.

At that time as it crawls. Klukkan eða tímin sem skríður.
Klukkan eða tímin sem skríður.
Þegar maður er ungur er tímin mun ótakmarkaðari auðlind en seinna verður.
Fyrsta myndin er frá upphafi ferilsins, bakgrunnuri á skífuni er nóttin tjáningin óþolinmóð og mótífið sótt í umbúðir utan af sælgætisbréfi.
Á miðju ferlsins er skífan skýjuð og klukku vísa parið skimar eftir sanleikanum í grænu djúpinu.
Á síðustu myndinni hefur tímin breyst í þá sól sem við erum alltaf að mæla og búa til einhverjar hugmyndir um, en húna er uppspretta þess lífs sem við eigum að njóta en ekki bara að mæla.

Natural Congress. Sól á Þingvöllum.
Sól á Þingvöllum.
Það er fegurðin sem dregur mig til Þingvalla, þessi náttúru fegurð er tengd sköpun hvernig landlagið mótast, hvernig landið er að gliðna í sundur og vatnið skrifar sín ljóð eins og það stórskáld eitt kann sem er höfundur alheimsins.
Það er fegurðin sem dregur mig til Þingvalla, þessi náttúru fegurð er tengd sköpun hvernig landlagið mótast, hvernig landið er að gliðna í sundur og vatnið skrifar sín ljóð eins og það stórskáld eitt kann sem er höfundur alheimsins.
Hið forna alþingi er í huga margra tákn um vel heppnaðan vetvang, til að gera samfélags sáttmála og jafna með þeim er stóðu í deilum. Þó að sú mynd sé eflaust ekki raunsönn, þar sem höfðingjar réðu í krafti auðs og vopna. Enda eru margir sem ekki eru vissir um að allt sé með hinu allra besta móti í samfélaginu Ísland.
Sumir landsmenn biðu eftir að Eyjólfur hressist sá hópur hefur þá væntanlega einhverja trú á því sem stjórnvöld og stofnanir samfélagsins standa fyrir og eru þá væntanlega sátt við núverandi ástand og Alþingi.
Manni finnst stundum að peningahyggjan sé búinn að ná tökum á öllu og augvar hugsjónir à Alþingi.
Á Þingvöllum er maður staddur á miðju jarðkringlunar annar flekin tilheyrir Amiríku og nýja heiminum en hin hlutin er í gamla heiminum sem virðist vera skárri söminni til, en órólegur með Evrópu eins og góðgjarna ömmu sem ekki má við margnum.
Á þingvöllum "Þar ríkir fegurðin ein" og mætti segja að ef manninum tækist að virkja fegurðina í sėr og látið hana stjórna, mundi heimurin verða betri staður fyrir gott fólk.

It is beauty that draws me to Thingvellir, this beauty of natural is linked to the creation of the land in time, how the the wether writes his poetry with water and ligth, as it just one poet who is the creator of the universe.
Ever since "Economic collapse" the nation has been in a kind of stagnation, a large part of the population had to face that there was nothing like we had been told, people just got huge financial losses and most have little faith in the government or community organizations, this group was protesting in front of the Parliament in Reykjavik for many years.
Many people are still unhappy with the corruption in politics and economy.
At Thingvellir is a man standing on the center of the earth by tectonic theory one raft belongs America and new world, but other to the old world with Europe leading old values, so to speak.
It is the beauty that prevails, despite all the conflicts in the world.

Fjöll á Íslandi fá oft nafn sitt frá einhverju sem líkist því í formi.
Búrfell fær nafnið vegna þess að það líkist formi húsa sem maturinn var geymdur í gamla daga.
Þessi mynd er að fara á sýningu í Galleri Fold.

Mountains in Iceland often get names for something that resembles them in form.
Búrfell given the name because it resembles the form of old houses that food was stored in.

Þegar ég var í Myndlista og handíðaskólanum í Nýlistadeild, lærðum við ljósmyndun hjá frábærum kennurum og hefur sú kunnátta nýst mér vel og ég tók mikið af myndum á Cannon AE1 vél sem ég átti og var tæknilega mjög fullkomin 35 mm filmuvél.
Vinna í myrkra herberginu fór stundum úr böndunum vegna vandamála með vatns þrýsting, maður var kanski búinn að stilla vatn á ákveðið hitastig til að skola filmu eftir fraköllun og fixeringu en þá var kanski skrúfað fyrir krana á þriðju hæð og skolunin fór í + 80 °C og filman varð eins og grófur sandpappír.
Þessi ljósmynda della hefur tekið sig upp aftur og ég tek mikið af ljósmyndum og svo eru þau að blandast inní málverkin mín.
When I was in The Art school, I did study conceptual art, we learned photography with very good teachers and this skill worked well for me and I took a lot of photos Cannon AE1 that I had and was technically perfect film camera.
The work in dark room was sometimes out of control due to problems with the water pressure, the man was perhaps ready to adjust the water at a certain temperature to wash the image after the fixering; water temtrature was un stabile að could go up to + 80 ° C and the film was like corned beef.

Matur og þjóðerni. Food and nationality.
Það er erfitt að tala um mat með ákveðið þjóðerni. Það sem við köllum íslenskan mat er yfirleitt einhvað sérsakt í tengslum við geymsluni á matnum t.d. Þorramaturin.
Við lærðum upphaflega okkar nútíma matar ferð frá frá Danmörku, Lambalærið er okkar útgáfa af hefðbundnu Danskri svínasteik.
Í myndunum hér hér, sameina ég tvær af uppáhalds athöfnum mínum að elda og mála.Málverkin mín eru ekkert endilega íslensk eða alþjóðleg þetta eru myndir af minni reynslu og þekkingu, mín aðferð til að gera lífið áhugaverðara.
Við lærðum upphaflega okkar nútíma matar ferð frá frá Danmörku, Lambalærið er okkar útgáfa af hefðbundnu Danskri svínasteik.
Í myndunum hér hér, sameina ég tvær af uppáhalds athöfnum mínum að elda og mála.Málverkin mín eru ekkert endilega íslensk eða alþjóðleg þetta eru myndir af minni reynslu og þekkingu, mín aðferð til að gera lífið áhugaverðara.
It is difficult to talk about food with a certain nationality. What we call Icelandic food is usually any specifics related to the storage of food. We got our school in cooking from Denmark, Lambalærið (lamb leg) is our version of a traditional Danish roasted pork with a crisp rind, etc.

Á tíma mótum. At a crossroads.
Á tímamótum.
Stundum þegar maður sér gamla mynd sem maður hefur málað man maður eftir tilfinningu sem fylgdi því að mála myndina, henni get ég ekki lýst hún er í myndinni.
Tímin frá því 1978 hafði verið tímabil nýjamálverksins, einhvern vegin hafði ég á tilfinninguni að sá tími væri liðinn. á myndinni sést hvernig tindar frá miðju myndarinnar vísa í ákveðin form/hluti: Stjarna, hjarta, Þríhyrningur, Ferningu o.s.frv. Það eru leiðir; ég hafði marga mögleika hvernig ég vildi þróast, en ég vildi ekki taka meðvitaða ákvörðun um breytingar, frekar prófa færar leiðir. Skynsamlegra hefði verð að læra uppeldis og kenslufræði og fá sér launaða vinnu.
Ég kaus að halda áfram að böðlast í málverkinu með hjartað við stjórnvölin en synsemina

At a crossroads.
Sometimes when you see the old painting by yourself you get the feeling that made you paint the picture, it is something I cannot be said by text only in painting.
The time around 1978 was the period of New Wave Painting, somehow I had the impression that the "new" time had passed. This panting shows how peaks from the center of the panting refer to specific items: a star, heart, triangle, square, etc. There are ways; there were many options, but I would not like to take a conscious decision to amend just for sake of doing something new, I just kept on panting. Maybe it would have be wise, to learn pedagogy and get a paid job.
I chose to continue painting with heart at control, but full of doubt of economic security.

Norðurljós. Northern lights.
Á þessum árstíma er dimmt hér á norðurslóðum, en bjartari tíð frammundan.
Sagt er ljóðskáldið Einar Benediktsson hafi selt norðurljósin og þótti okkur íslendingum þetta skondin saga hér áður fyrr.
En núna erum við að selja norðurljósin til ferðamanna sem koma til að horfa á þau, sem ég er ekkert hissa á mér hefur alltaf þótt þau heillandi og hef starað á þau og málað myndir þar sem þau koma fyrir.
This season's is dark here in the North, but bright times are coming.

Eyjan bláa. / Island of blue
Þegar við Íslendingar viljum vera hátíðlegir þá tölum við stundum um eyjuna bláu.
Við erum langt norður í hafi og vegirnir hingað eru báðir bláir himin og haf.
Í andlegu umræðu hefðinni er blár litur er oft litur sem táknar; andleg málefni, innsæi, innblástur og innri frið.
When Icelanders want to be festive then we talk sometimes about the island in blue.
We are far north in middle the ocean and the ways to the island are both of them in blue colour; the the sky and the sea.
In spiritual terminology blue colour is often the color of spirituality, intuition, inspiration and inner peace.

Sólin, The sun.
Sólin er einskonar tákn fyrir sköpunina enda viðheldur hún lífinu og er aðal aflgjafi náttúrunar. Skuggin er afkvæmi ljóssins og er uppspretta fyrir ímyndunaraflið. Sólin hefur verið eitt af uppáhalds myndefni mitt síðustu ár, hringurinn er hið fullkomna form og svo er hægt að spinna endallaus tilbrigði við geisla sólarinnar. Við þurfum hvoru tveggja dagin og nóttina, dagurinn er tími athafna en nóttin er tími hvíldar og endurnýjunar.
The sun is a kind of symbol for creation as it sustains life and is the main power of nature. The shadow is is the source for imagination. The sun has been one of the favorite subjects of my art last years, the circle is the perfect form and you can improvise end loose variation of the rays of the sun. We need both the day and night, day is night time activities but is a time of rest and renewal.

Það er hægt að nota stafræna vinnslu á ljósmyndum á mismunandi hátt: gera við ljós, lit eða skugga, einnig er hægt að taka út og setja inn nýja mynd hluta.
Ég nota stafræna tækni á svipaðan hátt og þegar ég er að mála það er aðeins hin frjálsa sköpun og listræn löngun mín sem ræður ferðinni.
Hér nota ég hluta úr tveimur myndum af málverkum og tvemur myndum úr landslagi.

I use digital technology in a similar way when I'm painting it is only the free creation and artistic my desire that determines the course.
Here I use parts of two images of paintings and two pictures of landscapes.

Nýja málverkið byrjar um 1980 á Íslandi. The new wave painting beginning in Iceland around 1980.
Ég hef verið að taka til í geymslunum hjá mér, þá kemur ýmislegt í ljós. Það sem þar er er oft kallað Nýja málverkið, það er deilt um hvort eitthvað var nýtt í þessu málverki, hitt var þó staðreynd að margir töldu málverkið dautt sem listform, það út af fyrir sig var nægjanleg ástæða til að taka upp penslana að loknu námi í Nýlistadeild MHÍ, reyndar var ég að fikta soldið við málverk meðfram nýmiðlunum, sem reyndar höfðu verið notaðir í myndlist alla 20 öldina.
I have been cleaning my my storage, at that time things become clearer, when you see what there is. This is often called the new wave painting, it is debated whether there was something new in this painting, how ever it was in fact many that believed the painting dead as an art form, that by itself was sufficient reason to take up brushes and paint. When completion of the art school where I study Conceptual art, actually I was kinda tampering with the painting along the new media, which was called new but actually had been used in art all 20 century.

Á þessum tíma fyrir 1980 vissi maður ekki hvað væri að gerast, það var bara einhver óljós tilfinning eða þrá. Um leið og nýja málverkið er orðið einskonar fyrirbrygði fer það að hafa áhrif á hvað fólk gerir í myndlistinni.Ég skrifa meira um þetta fljótlega.
At this time in 1980 did not know what was happening, it was just a vague feeling or desire. As soon as the new painting has become a kind fenomen it does have an impact on what the artist is doing. Ég write more about this soon.
